- Bite gauze firmly for 1-2 hours. Minimize talking and
try not to chew on the gauze. You can swallow while biting
on the gauze.
- If bleeding continues, fold and moisten a piece of gauze
and bite firmly for 1 hour.
Note: It is normal to experience some red to reddish-brown
oozing for up to 24 hours. If active bleeding occurs, you
may gently bite on a tea bag soaked in cold water and wrung
completely. If bleeding is not controlled by this method,
call Dr. Callahan or Dr. Thomas
at (301) 948-1212.
- Take medication as prescribed.
- To minimize post-operative swelling, apply a cold pack
to the side of your face for 20 minutes on, 10 minutes off,
and repeat.
