Meet Dr. Cheryl Callahan Your Trusted Dentist in Rockville Maryland

A Passion for Dentistry

Being a dentist in Rockville means I am able to make a positive difference in local people's lives, and as I help my patients, they help me develop and become a better person. I appreciate every opportunity to improve a person’s health and life, and am honored that people trust me to provide the best dental care available. As a dentist, I am fortunate to meet people from all over the globe, and each day, they teach me something new about their culture, history, food, and traditions, which helps me to grow and see the world from a new perspective.

I am passionate about educating my patients on their oral health and how the condition of their mouth affects the rest of their body. A life-long learner, I love to pass my knowledge along to others and work with each individual patient to find the best solution to a situation.

My medical career started in nursing, but I moved into dentistry because of the educational and preventive focus. I am able to help my patients learn to make good decisions, and to deliver preventive care that keeps their mouth and body healthy. This allows them to live happier lives, free from dental issues and concerns about the appearance of their smile. Each day, I strive to provide my patients with extraordinary personalized care that results in a healthy mouth for a lifetime.

My Dental Education and Commitment to Continuing Education

I hold a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Northeastern University, and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery was awarded by the University of Michigan. My formal education provided me with an excellent foundational knowledge of dentistry and oral healthcare, but the field is constantly changing. I seek out continuing education (CE) opportunities throughout the year, as well as making CE a priority for my staff.  I am involved with the Pankey Institute, the Pankey Study Club, and many other study clubs. Staying abreast of new techniques, materials, and treatment options is essential to deliver the best care to our patients.

Personal Life

I grew up in Dedham, MA, which is a suburb of Boston. I’ve called Rockville, MD my home since 1987. My life is shared with my two children, Alec and Marina, and spending time with them is always my priority away from the practice. I volunteer in school and community activities, have been involved with Special Olympics for many years, and am involved in adoption issues, as well. When I need to relax, I travel or escape into a good book.
